What are Travelworld's plans for the future?

…shaping the future of travel…

The Group's development strategy is to continue to build the Travelworld brand through acquisition and generic growth of established travel centre operators

Its vision is to provide the best 'value proposition' in the Australian travel industry for Travelworld's franchise and affiliate programs.

Travelworld is committed to delivering a clear strategy for the future. Long term our vision is to position Travelworld as the leader in the travel industry, but to do this, we will focus our attention on the critical issues that must be addressed immediately. The four key priorities are:

1) Developing a strong brand -

The travel industry is already recognising Travelworld as a strong agency group in its own right, but we must position our brand very clearly in the minds of the travelling public. We will be undertaking a major strategic campaign that all franchisees, management and staff will participate in.

2) Developing a Travelworld culture and identity -

Developing a culture within any business is driven by the people within the business. It is based on how we work together and already people are recognising Travelworld as a group working cohesively and diligently while having some fun at the same time.

3) Supporting franchisees -

Franchisees and their businesses are our key priority. Travelworld will work closely with them to build the value proposition so they receive the best commissions, alternative revenue sources, and reap the benefits of our buying potential.

What is Travelworld's marketing strategy? Our short term target is to move the Travelworld brand to a section of the market currently unoccupied. Travelworld will continue to offer a comprehensive product range but will introduce new facilities to provide an enjoyable travel booking experience.

Company history Jetset Travelworld is the largest travel agency network in Australia in terms of agency numbers.

In the 12 months to April 2002 Jetset Travelworld built a network of almost 740 travel agency franchises by acquiring the agency networks of National World Travel, Travelworld, Traveland (150 franchisees from the original 285) and Jetset.

This rapid growth was escalated by the collapse of Ansett Airlines Limited (the former owner of the Traveland agency group) and the decision by Ansett's former parent, Air New Zealand Limited, to sell its retail interests in the Jetset agency group.

Jetset Travelworld is made up of two branded agency networks, Jetset and Travelworld. The travel agency sector in Australia is continuing to change as independent operators are forced to become more specific with their products and target markets, or join large buying groups and national brands to benefit from more competitive pricing, national marketing, training and business development assistance.
